Professor Konstantin Chernev, doctor of medical science is the head of the Ward of Internal Diseases in MHAT Sofiamed. He is a national consultant of Bulgaria in internal diseases and former chairperson of the University Department of Propedeutics of Internal Diseases at the Medical University in Sofia. He has a specialty in gastroenterology and internal diseases, he has been a head of clinic and national consultant in this medical field as well. He has graduated in medicine in Plovdiv. Professor Chernev has worked at ISUL, at the medical universities in Pleven and Sofia, has been a head of clinics in Aleksandrovska Hospital. He has specialized in institutes and hospitals in Tuebingen and Hanover, Germany, has been guest – associate professor there. He is also awarded a gold medal as a guest lecturer in Slovenia. Over 250 scientific works that he has authored has been published, 50 out of which abroad. He is an author and editor of a number of medical textbooks and monographies. He is a member of Bulgarian, European and world organizations in gastroenterology and endoscopy, of the World Transplantation Association, of the European Group for research of helicobacter pylori infection, of the International Academy of Sciences with seat in Munich. The main practical and scientific interests of professor Chernev are within the entire spectrum of gastroenterology and hepatology – diagnostics and treatment of chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer, etc.
